If you are using Airtel DTH (Airtel Digital TV), you might have seen the charge under head “NCF” in your bill. What is this NCF Charges that Airtel collects from its DTH users? I will explain the same to you in this post and will also explain how it is calculated.
What is NCF?
You should be aware that TRAI regulates the DTH operators and frames the rules for the DTH business. TRAI changed the rules of DTH business last year by implementing the new pricing regime in which it offered flexibility to customers to choose the channels as per their choice. As per the rules of the new pricing regime, the DTH operators have to charge NCF to its users in addition to the charges paid by the users towards the number of channels they have selected.
NCF means Network Capacity Fees and it is meant to cover the fixed network cost that the DTH operators have to bear.
How much is the NCF (Network Capacity Fees) in Airtel?
Airtel collects NCF from its users based on the DTH usage. I will explain the same here in the below table:
|Your DTH Usage||Network Capacity Fees (NCF)|
|Primary Connection (up to 200 SD Channels)||Rs. 130.00 + GST = Rs.153.40|
|Primary Connection (up to 100 HD Channels||Rs. 130.00 + GST = Rs.153.40|
|Primary Connection (with more than 200 SD Channels)||Rs. 160.00 + GST = Rs. 188.80|
|Primary Connection (with more than 100 HD Channels)||Rs. 160.00 + GST = Rs. 188.80|
|Secondary Connection (up to 200 SD Channels)||Rs. 52.00 + GST = Rs. 61.36|
|Secondary Connection (up to 100 HD Channels)||Rs. 52.00 + GST = Rs. 61.36|
|Secondary Connection (with more than 200 SD Channels)||Rs. 64.00 + GST = Rs. 75.52|
|Secondary Connection (with more than 100 HD Channels)||Rs. 64.00 + GST = Rs. 75.52|
So, from the table above, you will get a clear picture of the NCF Fees that Airtel charges in their bills. Since Airtel considers 2 SD Channels = 1 HD Channel for calculation of charges, the NCF for HD Channels are double the charges you pay for SD Channels.
It is important to note that the mandatory Doordarshan Channels are not to be counted in the total number of channels to be calculated in the Primary or Secondary Connection List.
