The TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority ) has created a rule to give respite from the barrage of calls received from tele-marketing agencies. The solution is called DND activation. You have to enlist your mobile number in the DND List regulated by TRAI to enable blocking of calls from tele-marketing agencies.
What is DND?
DND means Do Not Disturb.

DND is a service provided by the telecom service providers to their customers based on the instruction from TRAI. DND List ensures that any mobile phone user is not called unnecessarily without his/her consent. If you would like to activate DND on your Airtel Mobile Number, I will show you the way in simple steps.
How to activate DND in Airtel by SMS
You have many options by which you can activate DND in your Airtel Mobile Number. I will be sharing various ways in which you can submit your request for activation of DND in Airtel.
It is important to know that after placing your request for DND activation, it will take up to 7 days for the promotional calls to stop on your phone.
It is also important to note that after activation of DND on your Airtel Mobile Number, the minimum waiting period for de-activation of DND service is 90 days. You will not be able to de-activate DND from your phone till 90 days are completed after activation of DND on your Airtel Mobile Number.

For blocking all banking, financial products and credit cards related calls and SMS, you have to send an SMS to 1909 with text “START 1” from your Airtel Mobile Number.
Please note that your own bank-account or credit-card transaction-related calls & SMSes will not be blocked when you activate DND.

Deactivating Airtel DND Service by SMS
For any reason, if you feel that you will have to de-activate the DND service on your mobile phone, you can do the same after waiting for 90 days from the date of activation of DND service on your mobile number. To deactivate DND Service, you have to send an SMS with text “STOP” to 1909 from your Airtel Mobile Number registered with DND. Your Airtel mobile number will be de-registered from the DND List.
How to activate DND Service on Airtel Mobile Number by IVR
You can also activate DND Service in Airtel using the IVR facility. To activate DND Service using IVR facility, you have to call on the Toll-Free Number 1909 from your Airtel Mobile Number you seek to register for DND. You will have to speak to the executive on call and request him/here to activate the DND service.
How to check the DND Status of any Airtel Mobile Number
To check the status of any Airtel Mobile Number, you have to visit the url – http://ndnc.net/check-dnd-status/ and enter your phone number to check the DND Status of any mobile number.
