How to change mobile number in SBI


It is very important to register your mobile number with your bank to avail the banking facilities sitting at home through internet banking or using mobile banking app. If you have an account in SBI and you have already registered your mobile number with the bank. Now, for some reason, if you have to change the mobile number registered with the bank, you can do it easily with the methods I am going to share with you. Let’s see how to change mobile number in SBI easily in 2019.

How to change mobile number in SBI using Internet Banking through OTP
The steps involved to change your mobile number in SBI through Internet Banking are as under:

Go to your browse and type in the url: www.onlinesbi.com to open the Internet Banking portal of SBI.
Login to the SBI Net Banking portal using your Internet Banking username & password.
Click on “Profile” tab from the options in the Navigation Menu.
In the profile section, click on the “Personal Details” option.
You will be required to enter the profile password of your internet-banking account. Enter the password.
In the window, you will be able to see the Display Name, Email Address and Mobile Number associated with your Bank account.
Select the option “Change Mobile Number – Domestic Only” to proceed with the process of changing mobile number.
From the three options given – Create Request, Cancel Request and Status, enter the new mobile number and retype the mobile number in the Create Request tab. Click on the “Submit” button.
Click on “Ok” in the pop-message “Verify and confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxxx”
After entering the new mobile number, you will have to choose from the three methods – 1. By OTP on both the mobile number 2. Internet Banking Request approval through ATM (IRATA) 3. Approval through Contact Centre.
Since I am explaining the method to change the mobile number using OTP, choose the 1st option – By OTP on both the mobile number
Click on the “Proceed” button.
You will have to choose the Account Number for which you need to change the mobile number. Select the required Account Number and click on “Proceed”,
Select the ATM Card associated with your account and click “Proceed”.
Enter the ATM Card Details – Card Number, Valid thru / Expiry Date, Name of the Cardholder, ATM Card PIN along with the Captcha and click on “Submit” button.
Now, you must check all the details entered by you and if all the details are okay, click on “Pay” button. Don’t worry you don’t have to pay anything.
You ATM Card details will be validated online and you will receive OTP along with reference number on both your old and new mobile number.
Note down the OTP & 13 digit reference number received on old and new mobile numbers on a paper.
Send an SMS using your old number with text: ACTIVATE <8 digit OTP received on your Old mobile number> <13 digit reference number received on your old mobile number> A sample message would like like this: ACTIVATE 12121212 UM12345678901. You have to send the SMS to: 567676
Send an SMS using your new number with text: ACTIVATE <8 digit OTP received on your new mobile number> <13 digit reference number received on your new mobile number> A sample message would like like this: ACTIVATE 12121212 UM12345678901. You have to send the SMS to: 567676
After sending SMS from both your numbers, the OTP validation process will be complete and your new mobile number will be updated in the SBI records. You will also receive a confirmation message regarding the updation of your mobile number.
How to change mobile number in SBI using Internet Banking through IRATA (Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM)
You have to follow the below steps:

Follow the exact steps as mentioned in Point No. 1 to 10 from the OTP method which I explained.
Select the button “IRATA : Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM” and click on “Proceed”.
You have to select the account number which has the associated ATM Card and click on “Proceed”.
You have to select the active “ATM Card” linked to your account and click on “Proceed”.
Enter the ATM Card Details – Card Number, Valid thru / Expiry Date, Name of the Cardholder, ATM Card PIN along with the Captcha and click on “Submit” button.
Now, you must check all the details entered by you and if all the details are okay, click on “Pay” button. Don’t worry you don’t have to pay anything.
Your ATM Card is now validated and you will see a message on the screen with guidelines to complete the complete the registration process.
You will receive an SMS with text: “Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is : UMXXXXXXXXXXX and your IRATA reference number is XXXXXXXXXX” on your new mobile number.
You have to visit the nearest SBI ATM with your ATM Card.
Swipe the card in the ATM Slot and tap on the “Services” option.
Enter the ATM PIN
Now, select the “Others” tab on the ATM Display and tap on the option “Internet Banking Request Approval”.
Enter the 10-digit IRATA Reference No. that you received in SMS and submit it.
After validating the 10-digit Refernence Number, your request for change of mobile number will be completed.
You will receive a confirmation message that your mobile number is updated.
How to change mobile number in SBI using Internet Banking through Contact Centre
The steps to be followed are as under:

Follow the exact steps as mentioned in Point No. 1 to 10 from the OTP method which I explained.
Select the button “Approval through Contact Centre” and click on “Proceed”.
You will have to select your account for which mobile number is to be changed. Select the account number and click on “Proceed”.
You will have to select your ATM Card Number of the Bank Account for which mobile number is to be changed. Select the ATM Card and click on “Proceed”.
Enter the ATM Card Details – Card Number, Valid thru / Expiry Date, Name of the Cardholder, ATM Card PIN along with the Captcha and click on “Submit” button.
Check & confirm the details entered by you. Then, click on “Pay” button.
Your ATM Card is now validated and you will see a message on the screen with guidelines to complete the complete the registration process.
You will receive an SMS with text: “Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is : UMXXXXXXXXXXX” on your new mobile number.
The representative from the bank will contact you on phone within 3 working days on your new mobile number.
When you received the call from Bank representative, you have to ask the reference number from him/her and confirm it with the Reference No. received by you in SMS. If the Reference No. is matching, you can provide the information asked by the Bank representative. For your safety, do not divulge the Reference No. to any other person till you receive the call from the Bank representative.
You will receive a confirmation message that your mobile number is updated.
How to check the Status of the Mobile Number Change Request
Follow the exact steps as mentioned in Point No. 1 to 7 from the OTP method which I explained.
From the three options given – Create Request, Cancel Request and Status, click on the “Status” tab.
You will be able to see the status of your request.
How to cancel the Mobile Number Change Request
Follow the exact steps as mentioned in Point No. 1 to 7 from the OTP method which I explained.
From the three options given – Create Request, Cancel Request and Status, click on the “Cancel Request” tab.
Choose the request and click on “Cancel Request” button to cancel the request.
You will see a confirmation message regarding the cancelled request on screen.
